The Job of an occupational safety and health (OSH) professional is to anticipate and identity potential hazards, and to provide suitable recommendations so that the employer may make appropriate changes before accidents happen. Safety and health officers work to prevent harm to property, workers, the public, and the environment.
They are responsible for implementing regulations that improve buildings, equipment and working practices. Working closely with many different organisations and regulatory agencies such as Department of Occupational safety and Health (DOSH), occupational safety and health officers educate employers on safer and healthier working practices.

According to a recent survey, employment opportunities are available from a range of sectors, including insurance and banking, services and utilities industries, construction, manufacturing, consulting firms, agriculture and the government.
At cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), the diploma programme in Occupational Safety and Health is designed with the objective to provide multidisciplinary training to equip students with basic principles of occupational safety and health.
