International College of Music (ICOM) was established in November 1995. ICOM is a college that offers education in contemporary music, audio production and music business at an undergraduate level in Malaysia and Asia region.
ICOM is well-known for producing talented and qualified music professionals to meet the needs and demands of music industry. All the programmes offered in ICOM are approved by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. ICOM was awarded with ISO 9000:1994 certifications in 2000 and once again, was awarded with ISO 9001:2000 in 2003.
To further strengthen its reputation as a renowned music college, ICOM received MSC status in 2005 and it is the only college that has achieved MSC status for music. The college has a total of 200 students in its programmes.
Facilities
ICOM is one of the best-equipped music colleges in Asia Pacific region. The college has spent RM50 million in the facilities for students’ convenience and comfort. Among some of the facilities provided at the college are recital hall, synthesis laboratory, keyboard laboratory, multimedia laboratory, ensemble rooms, private practice rooms, recording studio, library and mixing suite.
The recital hall functions as venue for special seminars, clinics as well as master classes. The hall is fully-equipped with baby grand piano and amplifiers. Synthesis laboratory also serves as classroom and offers facilities such as keyboard, mixer, apple computer and many more.
ICOM has a total of thirty-eight practice rooms that includes twenty piano rooms and fifteen rooms equipped with saxophone, bass, trumpet, guitar and clarinet. Library in the campus functions as information gateway for the students. The recording studio is created specifically to assist recording of drum kits, vocals and other acoustic instruments.
The library offers large collection of reference books, compact discs, journals, magazines, music videos and periodicals for learning and researching purposes. As one of the premier college of music contemporary, the college provides digital recording or rather known as mixing suite to edit and mix the audio using a digital mixer with dynamic automation and built-in processing.
Programmes
The college offers various academic programmes in contemporary music, audio production and music business including Bachelor of Music in Professional Music, Music Foundation Programme, Berklee Transfer Programme, Pre-Foundation in Music, Diploma in Business (Music Industry), Certificate in Audio Production, Digidesign Pro Tools 101, Digidesign Pro Tools 110, and music courses in piano, vocals, drums, guitar, strings and woodwinds.

ICOM works closely with other renowned organizations and institutions such as Berklee College of Music, Berklee International Network (BIN), Digidesign, Victoria University in Australia, Yamaha, International Association of Jazz Educators, Akademi Industri Muzik Malaysia, Malaysian Association of Private College and Universities, International Standards Organisation and Multimedia Super Corridor.
Financial Aid
ICOM does not offer scholarships for its students. However, students may apply for loans offered by PTPTN, MACP scholarship fund, EPF and other student loan schemes by other financial institutions.
Application Procedures
Applicants who are interested in the programmes offered may download the application form online and submit it together with certified copies of academic transcripts to ICOM campus. Applicants are also required to enclose a demonstration CD/DVD of their performance.
