    Degree in Business Information Technology

A degree in Business Information Technology, or BIT in short is one that integrates business with the technological areas. This course comes with different names like Business Information Systems, Computing in Business, Business Computing, which more or less offer the same type of classes and modules.

If you are a people person who wishes to embark into the area of computing, then courses like these are very appropriate. The most important thing about a BIT course is that it requires you to master 2 main areas, Business and IT. Of course, as mentioned you must first be a people person, which means that you enjoy meeting people and talking to them about processes and operations. Then you must also appreciate computing concepts and methodologies. This means that you must be able to understand the technological areas of computing before you consider working with people. Once you have covered that area, then you must also learn to be well-versed with dealing with people mainly because one of the most important skills in BIT is in translating business languages to computing language.

One of the very cool thing about this is that you do not need to be an expert in programming but should at least understand how it works and how to get it to work. This is because at this juncture, you are only required to ensure that you know what technology can do to help business and not to get down to ensuring that they do. Once you have successfully translated business wants and needs into computing terms, then you can leave it to the programmers to automate them. That means, you must be able to analyze business processes and come up with solutions that will help escalate and expedite the processes to ensure more productivity.

A degree in BIT bridges these 2 areas together and you will be trained in both areas where you will be able to understand business and its strategies as well as design the best possible solutions to help automate them. In other words, a BIT graduate will be able to translate a business and its processes into the Information Technology field or vice versa. Your degree will train you to become a system designer as well as prepare you to become a system analyst in future. Other career choices here include IT marketing positions and sales as well.
