In our concluding section on professional courses, we tell you about the most common industry driven qualification if you are into Information Technology. This is offered through the NCC or the National Computing Centre from the United Kingdom. The NCC is the largest membership body for the IT sector of the UK and offers certifications which are recognized worldwide.
The NCC functions as the industry voice for Information Technology when it comes to issues like policy formulation, industry feedback and discussions on the competitiveness of the IT industry between the corporate, academia and government quarters. The NCC Education is the arm by which it governs certifications for IT professionals and certifies that they are relevant and industry aware.
Typically, NCC churns out human capital for the Information Technology industry around the world and in Malaysia, NCC Education is offered as an alternative to the IT and computing degrees offered by universities. NCC was established in the UK back in 1966 with an advisory role to the government and in 1982 was invited to Malaysia to do the same for our government. The NCC Education arm of Malaysia plays a major and integral part for the Asian market as this is where most of the partners in around the region reports to. That means that examination papers from around the world are sent to the Malaysian branch for marking. In fact about 85% of examination papers are marked here.
Being the regional hub for NCC Education, they are committed to be the producer of industry-relevant graduates for the market not only in the country but globally as well. One thing good about obtaining a certificate from the NCC is that you become a certified IT professional after you finish, which is quite an equivalent to an IT degree. This means that although you might not hold an IT degree but you do have the knowledge of what degree holders do and if you like, you can gain exemptions and entry into the various levels of the undergraduate course if you have completed the NCC. The NCC is currently recognized by more than 60 universities throughout the world and this flexibility is one that entices students to take up this certification.
