If you are interested in Accounting, the ACCA would be one of the professional courses which might interest you. This is probably because the ACCA which stands for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is one the largest accounting body in the world of which it has got more than 300,000 members and students. To date, ACCA’s presence is in more than 160 countries which has had almost 100 years of experience in feeding the industry with certified accountants and professionals.
One of the good thing about an ACCA course is that if you passes this certification, then you are carry the title of “Chartered Accountant” which is globally recognized. Under the Malaysian law, the ACCA is recognized through The Accountants Act 1967. Once you pass this certification, then you are a member of the ACCA which also makes you eligible to be a member of the MIA (Malaysia Institute of Accountants).
ACCA started in 1904 which is also the fastest growing accounting body in the world. You have to take note here that being a ‘certified accountant’ is not easy and if you are certified, you can be sure to be ‘headhunted’. This is because the industry demand for ACCA graduates in the market is very high. Therefore you can be sure that passing the examinations will be very difficult. If you are working with a small company, you will be the decision maker and the one who keeps the account books. If you are with the big companies like KPMG or PriceWaterhouseCoopers, then you will be involved with a global team of highly qualified auditors. Other than that, you can also join the industry in positions like Portfolio Managers, Financial Controllers, Financial Analysts and work your way up to become the Chief Financial Officer of a Multinational company.
