After deciding on the course, then you must decide on other things like the time taken to finish the course, the tuition fees and of course the institution where you would like to take the course. There are various colleges and private universities around the country which are reputable for their pre-university courses, for instance, Sunway University College is pretty renowned for its Canadian International Matriculation Program while Taylors College has established quite a name for its ‘A’ Level courses especially in the Science stream.
One thing about doing the course privately is that the cost are usually very high particularly if you are to enroll into the more ‘famous’ colleges. Hence you must not waste time and money when undergoing the courses.
For those of you who are very sure of what you want to do and where you want to pursue your area of interest, you would most likely want to enroll into a foundation course. This is where you must look into the areas of expertise from the colleges and universities. For instance, The One Academy and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology are 2 very famous institutes for Art and Design while UCTI (Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation) is renowned as an Information Technology school since its days when APIIT (Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology) were churning out graduates in computing and IT.
On top of all that, you must consider one very important issue which is the studying environment. It is essential that you visit the institution prior to enrollment to get a feel of the environment there. Talk to the counselors and find out if about the student-lecturer ratio and the percentage of international and local students there. This is because in today’s education environment, you cannot avoid internationalization where you will be exposed to a more expressive and interactive classroom environment. It helps you tremendously when you go out to work later, so with more international students, you are more exposed to different cultures which will effectively help you improve.
At the end of the day, you will find that you might not want to continue your higher studies in an environment which is similar to your high school and hence help you mature and develop as a better graduate who is more expressive and confident.
